PRODUCT DETAILS

Directions for use

Natalis™ 1 birth gel is a sterile product applied below the cervix with a soft vaginal applicator by the doctor or midwife. It immediately creates a lubricating film in the birth canal. The product has purely physical effects; it does not contain any active substances or hormonal ingredients. Perineal massage should also be done during the labour.

Key information

Natalis™ is the first birth gel based on natural components.
Used during the first stage of labour.
One of Natalis™ components – xanthan gum (polysaccharide) – makes it easier to restore natural vaginal flora after childbirth. Bacteria responsible for lactic acid production (Lactobacillus) quickly convert polysaccharide glycogen into lactic acid. The gel helps to restore natural protective barrier in vagina to a great extent, which reduces the risk of infection.
Special vaginal applicator is connected to a syringe and wrapped downward, with openings on the sides. Thanks to it, the risk of infection or irritation becomes much reduced. Apart from applicator, the package contains one syringe filled with Natalis™ 1 gel. Placing both elements in one package facilitates inserting the gel.

Indications for using Natalis™ 1 birth gel

Birth gel Natalis™ 1 has been developed to facilitate natural delivery.
Natalis™ 1 birth gel is used to make the birth process easier for both mother and baby, as well as to protect the pelvic floor. Birth gel Natalis™ 1 creates an adhesive lubricating film in the birth canal, reducing frictions between the foetus and the vaginal birth canal. Birth gel Natalis™ 1 is sterile, hypoallergic, electro-conductive, slightly acidic, isotonic, and compatible with the mucous membrane. Natalis™ 1 birth gel can be used for both first-time mothers and women who have given birth, after Caesarean section, and in the case of delivery ending with a non-invasive procedure or surgery. Natalis™ 1 birth gel not only facilitates and shortens childbirth, but also protects the foetus, vagina, pelvic floor and mother’s birth organs.

Special indications for using Natalis™ 1 birth gel

- facilitating natural delivery to protect the mother and baby by reducing the unpleasant friction both among first-time mothers and women who have given birth, after Caesarean section, as well as in the case of water birth, premature birth, and birth membranes rapture;
- relieving effects of prolonged labour;
- facilitating surgical procedures performed during the labour;
- protecting birth organs during natural delivery;

Special recommendation for using Natalis™ 1 birth gel:

- use in order to facilitate delivery and manual separation of placenta.

Route and method of administration

Birth gel Natalis™ 1 is administered during vaginal examination at the first stage of labour. All content of the
syringe is applied into the vagina (birth canal), starting from the cervix lower end, with a flexible vaginal applicator or manually.
It is possible to apply additional liquid to the lubricating film in order to coat the birth canal fully. This can be done with NaCl solution (sodium chloride) or another aseptic solution. Natalis™ 1 birth gel shortens the time of delivery, therefore it should be used during the whole birth process. Average dose is 15-30 ml of Natalis™ 1 per delivery. As the experience shows, the maximum dose of Natalis™ 1 birth gel is 30 ml. Gel can be applied only by qualified obstetrical personnel.

Precautions

After opening the sterile packaging, sterile vaginal applicator must be attached to syringe. Preparation and application should take place in sterile conditions. Once the baby’s head can be seen, wipe their eyes, nose and face with a dry towel. If necessary, clearing baby’s oral cavity and nose should be done. Obstetrical personnel should hold the baby with a dry towel so that the newborn would not slip out of hands. Since Natalis™ birth gel is electro-conductive, it is possible to perform electrosurgical procedures to stop bleeding after the gel is applied, e.g. during Caesarean section or while monitoring the condition of birth canal tissues. Therefore, applying additional electro-conductive gel is not necessary to perform such procedures.

No information about any negative effect on the mother’s or newborn’s health in connection with using the birth gel.

ABOUT

Delivery is a very intimate moment when woman must be absolutely sure that despite the pain and fear, which are perfectly normal to experience, she will also feel relaxed. Delivery means physical separation between the mother and child.

One of the tasks of contemporary obstetrics is to be involved in the birth process in order to protect both the mother and the baby from any risks, especially long-term injuries.

Birth gel Natalis 1 has been developed to facilitate natural birth process. It can be used by both first-time mothers and women who have already given birth, and after Caesarean section.
